Adam provides advice at all stages of a business lifecycle, from incorporation and organization in the start-up stage, to financing, operational expansion and reorganization in the growth stage, and acquiring a competitor or exiting the industry in the maturity stage. As a corporate lawyer, Adam understands the value of practicing "preventative law" where pre-emptive legal advice is offered at the start-up stage to avoid potential or future problems for his clients.
Adam provides advice on a wide range of litigation matters. Adam is happy to assist you with commencing a legal proceeding or defending one. We offer advice and assistance with contract disputes such as breach of contract, debt collection, mediation and arbitration, employment litigation, commercial litigation, civil litigation and estate litigation. Our litigation services include Small Claims Court actions as well as Superior Court of Justice actions and/or applications.
With respect to employment law, Adam handles matters for both employees and employers. Our services include but are not limited to, advice and preparation of employment contracts, termination and severance including wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal, and employment litigation.
Adam handles residential and commercial real estate transactions, including the preparation of offers and mortgages.
Adam assists clients with estate planning and administration, from drafting of wills and powers of attorney to complicated corporate and personal tax-planned reorganizations and trusts. Adam's services include will challenges, power of attorney disputes, applications for certificate of appointment of estate trustee with or without a will, estate administration, estate-related real estate, corporate and negligence claims.
Adam received his Honours B.A. in 2006 from the University of Toronto and graduated from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law in 2009. Adam was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in the spring of 2010.
Adam was born and raised in the Niagara Region. Before returning to Niagara, Adam was a corporate lawyer at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP ("Osler"), in Toronto, one of Canada's most respected national law firms on Bay Street. Adam joined Osler as an associate and focused on corporate/commercial law. In 2013, Adam joined the law firm of Douglas, Stewart & Associates LLP, a law firm in St. Catharines with a depth of experience and expertise in multiple areas of law. Adam had the benefit of Mark's corporate mentorship and the ability to pursue his desire to litigate under the guidance and mentorship or R. David House, counsel to Douglas, Stewart & Associates LLP. Natural synergies developed amongst Mark, David and Adam that led to the creation of the partnership Stewart, House LLP in May 2014. At Stewart, House LLP, Adam's practice focuses on a wide range of law including corporate/commercial, litigation, employment, real estate and wills and estates.

Planning for the Future
Adam understands the importance of succession planning as he currently practices with his father, Mark. Whether you're a manufacturer, farmer, retailer or service provided, planning for the transfer to the next generation should be a priority. Adam assists clients with this transition by structuring various legal solutions from simple earn-out arrangements to complicated tax-planned reorganizations.
Deep Rural Roots
Adam met his wife, Jennifer, in Toronto while he was practising at Osler. Jennifer was a kindergarten teacher at Sterling Hall Boys School in Toronto. Adam and Jennifer were born and raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake and shared the value of family as both of their families had a deep rooted family history of farming in the Niagara Region. Adam and Jennifer's marriage and start of their family made for a very easy decision to leave Toronto and move back to the Niagara Region. Adam and Jennifer returned to the Niagara Region in 2013. Since then, Adam and Jennifer's family has grown and they have welcomed four children, Emmersyn, Weston, Georgia and Andie.
